HTG pre-IB

Høje-Taastrup Gymnasium’s pre-IB programme

Høje-Taastrup Gymnasium offers a one-year preparatory programme for both Danish and international students preparing for the IB Diploma Programme. The Høje-Taastrup Gymnasium pre-IB programme (HTG pre-IB) is taught entirely in English and prepares students for the academic and linguistic demands of the IB Diploma Programme.

The HTG pre-IB programme bridges the gap between the Danish “Folkeskole” and the IB Diploma Programme. Thus, the IB Diploma Programme corresponds to the second and third years (2.g and 3.g) of the Danish upper secondary education system, while the one-year HTG pre-IB corresponds to the first year (1.g). At Høje-Taastrup Gymnasium, students coming from the Danish “Folkeskole” are therefore required to complete either the first year of a Danish upper secondary programme (STX, HHX or HTX) or the HTG pre-IB programme before beginning the IB Diploma Programme. Students from other educational backgrounds who have not completed an equivalent level of schooling or who need to strengthen their English proficiency may also benefit from completing the HTG pre-IB programme before entering the IB Diploma Programme.

Completion of the HTG pre-IB does not automatically guarantee admission to the IB Diploma Programme. Students must meet the admission requirements and demonstrate that they are prepared for the demands of the programme. Students who have completed the HTG pre-IB may also transfer to the Danish STX programme (2.g), provided they have sufficient Danish language proficiency to follow the programme successfully.

Please note that the pre-IB programme is not part of or affiliated with the IB programmes. This class/programme is not a requirement to enter the 2-year IB Diploma programme or the IB Career-related programme.

Hoeje-Taastrup Gymnasium is a candidate school for the Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.

Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
